Apple has acquired French startup Datakalab, which specializes in computer vision technologies
Datakalab develops image and video analysis algorithms. The company has created a tool for tracking masks on people’s faces in Parisian transport. It has also collaborated with Disney and other major clients.
Currently, Apple is paying great attention to artificial intelligence, which will be introduced in iOS 18. Datakalab’s vision tracking technologies could assist with Apple Vision Pro, Face ID, and other tasks.
Neither Apple nor Datakalab have announced the deal, but journalists claim it took place at the end of last year.
