An X/Twitter analogue from the co-founder of Twitter has launched public registration

Jack Dorsey’s Bluesky microblogging service can now register all users. Previously, this could only be done sequentially or by invitation.

The service operates in Russia without VPN, however, it is not possible to create an account with a Russian phone number: there is a form for entering a number with “+7”, but when you try to register, an error appears that the verifying messages cannot yet be sent to “your country”, but the team is working on a solution.

Dorsey founded Bluesky after leaving Twitter in 2021. The service’s feature is decentralization: the community is controlled by the users themselves, and data can be stored not on public servers, but on their own.

Currently, Bluesky does not have two-factor authentication, supports few languages (including no support for Russian), and lacks many other features of its “older brother”.
