An hour of gameplay from the canceled Crash Team Racing leaked—it could have been a hit

A substantial hour-long reel has surfaced online, showcasing a prototype for a canceled installment of Crash Team Racing that was originally in development for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

The footage was shared by David Goodrich (GoodrichGames), who served as a gameplay designer on the project. According to Goodrich, these assets were salvaged from the archives of High Impact Games, where the racing title was being developed in tandem with a broader series reboot under the working title Crash Landed. The project was eventually scrapped around 2010, presumably following a shift in Activision’s strategic direction for the franchise.

The recording provides a rare glimpse into early track layouts, character models, and core driving mechanics. Notably, several concepts and designs from this build were later repurposed for DreamWorks Super Star Kartz.
