“Marketing Black Hole”: New Blood Chief Attacks Epic Once Again

New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry is notorious for his candid and often abrasive commentary. In a sprawling interview with RPG Site focused on the upcoming Dungeons of Dusk, he directed some scathing remarks toward the Epic Games Store, Steam’s primary rival.

Oshry revisited his previous characterization of the EGS as a “marketing black hole,” asserting that his skepticism has been entirely vindicated. This perspective was solidified while his company was publishing Blood West, as he closely monitored the sales performance on Tim Sweeney’s storefront.

According to the executive, Epic fundamentally squandered the opportunity to develop a digital ecosystem that could legitimately challenge Steam’s market dominance.

The centerpiece of the interview was Dungeons of Dusk, an upcoming tactical turn-based dungeon crawler. While the full release is slated for 2026, a free demo is currently accessible to players as part of the Steam Next Fest.

The project is already fully Steam Deck Verified and has been officially announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor.
