PS5 dollar sales in the US rose 43% in September 2026 compared with a year earlier. Xbox Series X/S unit sales dropped 27%, a new record low for the Xbox ecosystem.
According to Circana, the PS5 ranked first in both units sold and revenue. Americans spent $362 million on gaming hardware, up 12% from a year earlier, even though the number of devices sold fell 3%. Year-to-date hardware spending remains 9% below the same period in 2025.
Xbox Series X/S dollar sales declined 2%. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella said the Xbox ecosystem had its worst September on record, falling below the previous low set in 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales also declined, down 12% in dollars and 14% in units. The picture could change in October and November with the expected release of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
