Adriel Favela Signs Recording & Label Deal With Fonovisa

Adriel Favela, the young singer/composer of regional Mexican music who’s known for his traditional fare as well as for a recent collaboration with Spanish rapper C. Tangana, has inked a recording and production deal with regional Mexican behemoth Fonovisa Records, owned by Universal Music Latino.

Favela, born in San Francisco and raised in both Mexico and the U.S., is part of the new wave of regional Mexican stars who are bilingual and bicultural, and experimental in their lyrics and musical style. Favela, 27, who writes his own songs, is ostensibly a corrido and norteño act, but laces his music liberally with guitars and collaborates often with a wide range of acts. He’s placed two tracks on the top 10 of Billboard’s regional Mexican airplay chart and four tracks on Billboard’s Hot Latin songs chart.

His new deal will allow him to not only develop his sound, but also sign new acts.

“I feel blessed and grateful to showcase my creative ideas in the purest and most honest way possible – through the universal language of music. I am also extremely proud of my team that is being assembled, which is full of talent, vision, patience and intelligence,” said Favela in a statement.

Favela was signed by Antonio Silva, the managing director for Fonovisa and Disa, who said: “He’s a young, multi-talented artist with a quickly growing career in Regional Mexican music, and he’s also not afraid to show his innovative and creative side by collaborating with musicians who specialize in other genres. He’s truly a complete artist.”

Favela was previously signed to indie Gerencia 360.
