A$AP Rocky Confirms Romance With ‘Love of My Life’ Rihanna

After much speculation and rumors, A$AP Rocky confirmed in an interview with GQ that he’s dating Rihanna, and called her “the love of my life.”

The profile with the headline “A$AP Rocky Is the Prettiest Man Alive” runs through the rapper’s month-long imprisonment in Sweden on an assault charge stemming from a 2019 street fight and the weird time former President Trump jumped on the #FreeRocky movement. The rapper was eventually released after being found guilty in a three-day trial and released on a conditional sentence with no further jail time.

But the news of his romance with Rihanna came several paragraphs later. Calling Ri the “love my my life” and “my lady,” Rocky — whom the piece noted was “beaming like a teenager” when the “Diamonds” singer’s name came up — was excited to break the news, but then clammed up when asked to give a timeline of their relationship. Whispers about the pair started in 2013, when the rapper opened up for Rihanna on her Diamonds world tour, and when the magazine asked what it feels like to be in a committed relationship, Rocky cracked the door a bit.

“So much better,” he said. “So much better when you got The One. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones … I think when you know, you know. She’s The One.”

The couple were photographed in Rihanna’s native country of Barbados at Christmas — Rocky’s father emigrated to the U.S. from Barbados — and he told GQ that visiting the island country felt like “a homecoming … It was crazy. I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America. And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar.”

Asked if he’s had thoughts about being a dad, Rocky said, “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely … I think I’m already a dad! All these mother—-ers are already my sons — whatchu talkin’ ’bout!” He laughed about the latter boast and then the piece noted he chose his words very carefully. “Nah, but like, I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”

Rocky said his time in COVID-19 lockdown included “experimenting in every field … with style, with rhythm, with sonics, film, food, health, love, life — for real,” some of which coincided with a hard break from a 2019 stint of sobriety that included what is described as “copious amounts of kush and dropping LSD.”

The story also revealed that Rocky and RiRi hopped on a huge tour bus last summer and drove from Los Angeles to New York, stopping in Texas, Memphis and a half dozen other cities along the way, as well as hitting a few national parks while rocking out to the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead and Curtis Mayfield. In addition to dropping acid and tie-dyeing his own shirts and pants on the bus, Rocky said he recorded some new music in a mobile studio, which he proclaimed is his best work to date.

“God blessed me with a lot, so I’m working with that, and that’s enough to make some f—in’ fire,” he said of the album tentatively titled All Smiles, which reportedly features collabs with British mope monarch Morrissey and — shocker — Rihanna. “I think it’s important to have somebody that you can bounce those creative juices and ideas off of,” he said, confirming that she has “absolutely” influenced the album he refers to as his “ghetto love” tale. “It’s just a different point of view.”
