Today it became known that on Tuesday, March 4th, Roy Ayers (Roy Ayers) passed away at the age of 84. The “Godfather of Neo-Soul,” “Pioneer of Jazz-Funk,” and author of more than 30 studio albums made a significant contribution to culture during his 60-year career.
The artist also made an impressive contribution to the music of Grand Theft Auto. He was a DJ on the Fusion FM radio station in GTA 4. Additionally, three songs from his groups and one of his own can be heard in different parts of the series:
- Roy Ayers Ubiquity — Running Away (Bounce FM in GTA: San Andreas)
- Roy Ayers Ubiquity — Everybody Loves the Sunshine (VCFL in GTA: Vice City Stories)
- RAMP — Daylight (The Vibe 98.8 in GTA 4)
- Roy Ayers — Funk in the Hole (Fusion FM in GTA 4)
In the first two cases, developers referenced Roy Ayers as the author; however, both compositions are actually part of the repertoire of his group Roy Ayers Ubiquity.
