According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the casting process for Disney’s live-action reimagining of Tangled is well underway, with several high-profile names surfacing for the lead roles.
Sarah Catherine Hook, who recently gained recognition for her performance in The White Lotus, is reportedly among the top contenders for the role of Rapunzel. She is joined in the audition process by Teagan Croft (Titans), Olivia Mai-Barrett (Invasion), and pop sensation Freya Skye.
Lola Tung, the star of The Summer I Turned Pretty, was also in the running but ultimately had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts. These names follow earlier speculation suggesting that Sadie Sink and Mckenna Grace were also being considered for the iconic golden-haired princess.
The search for the charismatic Flynn Rider has narrowed down to Milo Manheim (Thanksgiving) and Charlie Gillespie (The Restless). As of now, Disney has not issued an official statement regarding the final casting decisions.
The role of the manipulative Mother Gothel was originally slated for Scarlett Johansson, but the actress has since stepped away from the production due to her busy schedule. A premiere date for the live-action remake has yet to be confirmed.
