Given the variety of Warhammer 40Ok videogames clogging up Steam’s arteries lately, it’s shocking how few of ’em take an XCOMmy, turn-based squad techniques strategy. There’s 1998’s Chaos Gate, and 2015’s barely too easy and extra RPGy Deathwatch, and that’s about it. Perhaps the newly-announced Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus will fill that gap, seeing because it’s additionally doing the entire out-of-mission squad administration factor and effectively as having what appears suspiciously like a Geoscape.

Mechanicus eschews the standard Space Marine strategy in favour of one other side of the Imperium Of Man, the Adeptus Mechanicus and their machine-worshipping Tech-Priests. They’re notably well-suited to this type of factor as they’re solely too joyful to lop bits of themselves off and change them with equipment within the title of heightened skills.

“Hundreds of possibilities” are promised by way of squad customisation, along with a component of determination making that may have an effect on the character of missions and the end result of a narrative written by Black Library scribe Ben Counter.

There’s no in-game footage but, however there’s this scene-setting cutscene to bionic-eyeball:

Slightly extra data’s over here, and there’s a Steam web page on your wishlistin’ wants here. Mechanicus is due for a late 2018 launch on Windows, Mac & Linux, with dev duties dealt with by Crowntakers dev Bulwark Studios.
