The late Val Kilmer will be resurrected for Conte Voorhees’ film As Deep as the Grave, where he was intended to play a priest. It is known that Voorhees wrote the role specifically for the actor, taking into account his Native American heritage. However, due to a serious illness, Kilmer never managed to begin filming.
Years later, the director decided to use AI to create a visual image of the priest who will look like Val Kilmer. Permission for this was granted by the actor’s relatives.
It is emphasized that Voorhees’ approach is completely ethical: he coordinated all terms with the actors’ union and paid the necessary royalties to the heirs. Furthermore, Val himself had a positive attitude toward high technology and actively used it in film production. Previously, the actor had already restored his voice using AI for the film “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The plot of As Deep as the Grave follows two archaeologists who are conducting research on the culture of the Navajo people.
