Drama aside, Living the Dream introduces an unprecedented level of creative control. Players can personalize their islands with bizarre shapes, such as a Mii’s own head, adopt paper-cutout style pets, and design homes that resemble Chinese takeout boxes. It truly invites players to embrace their most eccentric fantasies.

Nintendo has also fulfilled its earlier commitment to making the series more inclusive. In a welcome shift, the game was built from the ground up to support non-binary gender identities and same-sex romance options, marking a significant step forward for the franchise.

However, it appears the beloved concert hall won’t be returning in this installment—a notable omission that fans hope will be mitigated by the game’s other new and returning features.

A former Nintendo of America marketing executive recently noted that leadership previously expressed frustration over the title’s sales performance in the US compared to the European market.
