Geralt’s days as a lone wolf are over, as he can now traverse the Continent in the company of fellow witchers and other iconic allies.
In early 2026, a modder known as rejuvenate debuted “The Witcher Online,” an ambitious unofficial multiplayer framework designed specifically for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
This modification reimagines the legendary RPG as a cooperative experience, allowing players to form squads of Geralts—or other characters from the franchise—to explore the world together.
The project is currently navigating several technical hurdles; most notably, world-state synchronization is not yet implemented. This means that while players can see each other, they cannot directly assist in combat or quest completion, as the environment remains local to each participant. However, the social foundation is already in place, featuring functional chat and emotes.
“The Witcher Online” is available as a free download via Nexus Mods. To get it running, you will need a legitimate copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (specifically the Next-Gen version, patch 4.04 or higher).
Installation is a multi-step process that involves setting up a private server and installing a suite of required dependencies, such as “Community Patch – Shared Imports” and “Custom Player Characters.”
