The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber boast the biggest song in the world, as “Stay” spends a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart and climbs from No. 2 for its first week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey.
Plus, The Weeknd‘s new single “Take My Breath” enters the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively.
Billboard‘s two global charts (the latest of which are dated Aug. 21) began last September and rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
‘Stay’ Scores Third Week Atop Global 200
“Stay” by The Kid LAROI, from Australia, and Justin Bieber, from Canada, adds a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. The song, The Kid LAROI’s first leader on the list and Bieber’s second, drew 108.5 million streams (up 23%) and sold 21,000 downloads worldwide (down 2%) in the Aug. 6-12 tracking week.
Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” holds at No. 2 on the Global 200, after a week atop the chart; Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” returns to its best rank (4-3); and Måneskin’s “Beggin'” dips to No. 4 from its No. 3 high.
The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath” debuts at No. 5 on the Global 200 with 52.5 million streams and 23,000 sold worldwide following its Aug. 6 release. The Canadian singer-songwriter earns his fourth top five hit since the chart began, following “Save Your Tears,” with Ariana Grande (No. 1, one week), “Blinding Lights” (No. 2) and “Hawái,” with Maluma (No. 3).
‘Stay’ Leads for First Time Outside U.S.
The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” posts its first week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, rising from No. 2 with 78.4 million streams (up 34%) and 8,500 sold (up 18%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Aug. 6-12 tracking week.
As on the Global 200, “Stay” is The Kid LAROI’s first Global Excl. U.S. No. 1 and Bieber’s second, after his own “Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, for five weeks in April-May. Bieber becomes the first soloist with multiple Global Excl. U.S. leaders and the second act overall, after BTS (four).
Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” drops to No. 2 after five weeks atop the Global Excl. U.S. chart; Måneskin’s “Beggin’ ” holds at No. 3 after hitting No. 2; Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” ascends to the top five (7-4), becoming the former’s second song to reach the tier and the latter’s first; and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” is steady at No. 5, after five weeks at its No. 2 high.
Plus, The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath” starts at No. 7 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart with 34.3 million streams and 9,200 sold outside the U.S. The song is his fourth top 10, joining “Hawái” (No. 1, one week) and the No. 2-peaking “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.”
