The Division 60 fps gameplay trailer showcases the power of the PC

Ubisoft said earlier this month that the PC edition of The Division has not been “held back” by the technical limitations of consoles. “The PC version of The Division was developed from the ground up and we’re confident players will enjoy the game and the features this version has to offer,” a rep said at the time.

I don’t know if today’s 60 fps PC gameplay trailer was meant to definitively prove the point, but it sure is pretty: Volumetric fog, dynamic global illumination, real-time destruction, realistic weather particles (which is to say, snow that actually looks like snow), real-time reflections, and of course, tons of dudes is winter casualwear to gun down. Which isn’t to suggest that turning your fellow citizens into a crunchy paste is “pretty,” but sometimes, saving the world also means killing a whole lot of people.

The Division comes out on March 8. Ahead of that, you can get our thoughts on the beta version, and try your luck at dropping the curtain on humanity once and for all with the new, fun-for-everyone “end of society simulator.”
