The character Nate, the boyfriend of Anne Hathaway’s character, will not appear in the sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada.” Actor Adrian Grenier (“Entourage”), who played him, named a possible reason why he was not invited to the sequel.
“We’re all fans of the movie, whether we’re in it or not. Of course, I was disappointed that I wasn’t invited to be in the sequel, but I also understand that there’s some backlash to the Nate character, so it might have something to do with that. But I think it could turn into a spin-off,”
— Grenier said in an interview with Page Six. In recent years, Nate has been increasingly criticized by social media users — many are convinced that it was because of his manipulations that the main character, Andy Sachs, did not build a career in the fashion industry.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” will be released internationally on May 1. Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will return to their roles.
