Some players are now calling for other iconic couples to split. “I honestly wish we could liberate Caroline from Pierre,” one fan suggested, a sentiment echoed by many who envision Caroline moving on with the player—or even the Wizard. In the chaotic world of Pelican Town theories, almost anything seems possible.
However, the prospect of playing the “homewrecker” isn’t universally welcomed. Many argue that such a feature would undermine the game’s famously serene and “cozy” atmosphere.
“It’s funny how people call Stardew their ‘cozy escape’ and then immediately pivot to destroying marriages, stealing the mayor’s shorts, and harboring an inexplicable grudge against the local blacksmith,” one fan observed with irony.
Another skeptical player added: “I thought this was supposed to be the most wholesome community in gaming.” It seems the fandom is currently caught between its love for peaceful farming and a newfound thirst for digital drama.
While it remains to be seen if Barone will actually implement such a controversial mechanic or simply introduce two entirely new faces, the anticipation for 1.7 continues to mount. For now, we can only wait and see if the next update brings more love—or more lawyers—to the valley.
