The creator of the original Flappy Bird is not involved in the upcoming remake
Last week, news circulated online about the return of the legendary mobile game Flappy Bird in the form of a remake with new mechanics and skins. However, it turns out that the reboot has no connection to the original game.
Almost immediately after the announcement, the developer of the original Flappy Bird, Dong Nguyen, disassociated himself from the project, stating on X/Twitter that he has no involvement in it and does not support cryptocurrencies.
Not many people noticed, but the upcoming game works with NFTs. It was later revealed that the owner of the company developing the game was previously involved in scam projects related to NFTs.
Legally, the remake is indeed being released under the original rights of the Flappy Bird trademark: the new owners waited for the trademark’s expiration and then re-registered it under their name.
