Sony raises PS5 prices in certain regions due to “complex economic situation”
The reasons for the price increase, according to Sony include high inflation and currency fluctuations. These changes affect Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, as well as countries in the Middle East and Africa.
In Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition has increased by €50, now costing €500, while in the United Kingdom, the price has risen by £40, now totaling £430.
In Australia and New Zealand, not only the PS5 Digital Edition but also the standard PS5 has gone up in price. The new prices for Australia are $472 and $522, and for New Zealand, they are $503 and $556.
Meanwhile, the retail price for the PS5 disc drive will be reduced. Its new recommended price in Europe is now €80, down from €120.
The updated prices for Middle Eastern and African countries have not been announced yet.
