The attempt to revive a classic has been underwhelming.
The Sacred 2 Remaster was released recently. The refreshed edition of the classic has drawn criticism.
The developers promised a range of improvements, including refined combat mechanics and a modernized interface. Yet the finished product failed to impress many players.
The game launched with “mostly negative” reviews, though its score later inched up — to 44% — placing it in the “mixed” reviews category.
Players of Sacred 2 Remaster encountered various technical issues (bugs, FPS drops, crashes); the redesigned interface also drew negative feedback.
One Rattletrap community member shared his impressions in a review — he spent less than an hour in the game but pointed out a long list of problems:
With all due respect, the original runs better. I played for twenty minutes and ran into so many issues that it’s hard to believe this release should exist. Those health bars look ripped straight from StarCraft — the interface and HUD are a mess. The visual styles clash, the typography is baffling (why is everything set in Arial?), and the combat text is outrageously large. I get that the game targets older players, but even for them the font feels oversized.
What is going on with the item panels? They’re enormous. When I enable item highlighting a huge, clickable nameplate appears under my character and actually interferes with melee combat. And why do items get picked up from any distance?
