Rockstar won’t be “greedy” and set a $100 price for Grand Theft Auto VI, says former employee

Mike York remains skeptical of the ongoing rumors and market speculation.

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York believes the studio will refrain from slapping a $100 price tag on Grand Theft Auto VI, despite the wave of rumors suggesting otherwise.

While Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has been somewhat evasive regarding the final cost, he has consistently maintained that players will receive far more value than the price they pay.

As the industry looks toward the 2026 release window, more experts are joining the conversation. In a recent discussion with Esports Insider, Mike York expressed his conviction that his former employer won’t succumb to “greed” when setting the MSRP.

I don’t anticipate GTA 6 being priced at $100. It will most likely land at $70, matching the current standard for major triple-A releases. Rockstar doesn’t need to inflate the price; they are already set to sell an astronomical number of copies, so there is no incentive for them to be greedy and push for $100.
