At the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed new Resident Evil Requiem gameplay and disclosed numerous details about the horror experience. The developers promise a fusion of classic dread and fast-paced action.
Players will encounter a claustrophobic atmosphere, intricate puzzles and inventory management, alongside a deep combat system that rewards precision and tactical play. The studio stresses the game won’t rely solely on a “run-and-hide” formula — encounters are designed to be intense and satisfying.
New adversaries draw special attention — “evolved” zombies that force players to adopt new approaches. Some ram their heads into mirrors, others respond to noise in the environment, making every corridor and skirmish feel distinct.
The showcased sequence is set in Rhode Hill Chronic Care Hospital — merely the opening chapter of a story that extends beyond Raccoon City.
The protagonist, Grace, is portrayed as the most shy and withdrawn figure in the franchise. As she faces extreme situations she will gain confidence, acquire new weapons and learn additional skills. At the same time, Alyssa will unravel a mystery tied to the Raccoon City incident, connecting Requiem to the series’ classic lore.
Capcom notes the title will be tougher than earlier entries but features difficulty levels: on Easy enemies are less aggressive and auto-aim is enabled, making Resident Evil Requiem approachable for newcomers while still challenging for longtime fans.
