Report: Second StarCraft Revival in Development at Nexon, Separate From Blizzard’s Rumored Shooter

While the original *dnews* report questioned if this project might be linked to the shooter Blizzard is rumored to be crafting, industry insiders suggest otherwise. “I’m not sure if this is accurate,” Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier noted in a ResetEra discussion. “However, if it exists, it is completely separate from the *StarCraft* shooter currently in production by a team at Blizzard.”

Schreier originally broke news regarding Blizzard’s own *StarCraft* shooter in 2024. That project is reportedly being developed under Dan Hay, a Blizzard VP and General Manager who formerly oversaw the *Far Cry* series at Ubisoft.

Blizzard has been teasing a wealth of updates for its core franchises this year, though *StarCraft* has remained notably absent from its public schedule. If both Blizzard and Nexon are indeed working on new entries, fans of the series may finally have cause for optimism—even if it seems increasingly likely that the future of the IP lies outside the traditional RTS genre.
