Following the recent casting of Kratos, Amazon has officially secured the actor who will portray his son, Atreus, in the upcoming God of War live-action series. According to a report by Variety, young performer Callum Vinson will take on the pivotal role, starring alongside Ryan Hurst in the adaptation of the beloved Norse saga.
Vinson brings an impressive resume to the production, with previous appearances in series such as Chucky, Dead Ringers, Poker Face, and Long Bright River. Voice acting fans may also recognize him as Piglet in Me & Winnie the Pooh. His future looks even busier; in addition to God of War, Vinson is set to appear in Netflix’s The Night Agent and will play a young Jason Voorhees in Crystal Lake, the Friday the 13th prequel coming to Peacock.

The Amazon adaptation is set to mirror the events of the 2018 God of War title, which chronicles the odyssey of Kratos and Atreus as they journey to scatter the ashes of Faye, Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother. The television portrayal of Atreus describes him as a ten-year-old who has spent his life in the isolation of a remote forest cabin. Raised primarily by his mother, he is a skilled archer with a profound curiosity about the world beyond his home. Following his mother’s passing, he must forge a connection with a cold, emotionally distant father while proving his resilience in a brutal, mythical landscape.
