Phasmophobia 1.0 will be released in 2026

Following an extensive tenure in Early Access, Phasmophobia 1.0 is finally approaching its definitive launch. Developer Kinetic Games has officially slated the release for later this year, heralding what promises to be the most transformative expansion for the cooperative horror sensation to date.

What began as a solo endeavor by Daniel Knight in 2020 rapidly evolved into a global phenomenon, effectively blueprinting the modern investigative horror subgenre. After five years of iterative refinements and community-driven feedback, the transition to version 1.0 signifies more than just a developmental milestone; it marks the game’s maturation from a modest indie project into a definitive leader of the genre.

The 1.0 update introduces the “Horror 2.0” system, featuring overhauled ghost models, unsettling hallucinations, and dynamic events designed to challenge even the most hardened veterans. The first quarter of the year will see a major character overhaul—introducing personalized customization and fluid animations—alongside a technical migration to Unity 6 and rebuilt network code to ensure a seamless multiplayer experience.

Rumors are also swirling regarding a potential debut on the Switch 2. With the addition of redesigned maps like 6 Tanglewood Drive and immersive seasonal events, Phasmophobia 1.0 is poised to deliver the most comprehensive and terrifying ghost-hunting experience for fans worldwide.
