Patch 7 Has Gone Live!

Patch 7 Has Gone Live!

Hey everyone,

Are you ready to delve into darkness? Do you want to witness the aftermath of unleashing your inner antihero?

Excellent! Patch 7 is now live on PC today! It comes with fresh nefarious conclusion cinematics, enhancements to Honour Mode, new Legendary Actions, improvements to split screen, a brand new method to mod your game, and a plethora of gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

Mac and console users, this update is bursting with changes and novel features—including official modding support across all platforms. Therefore, it will take extra time to pass all the required technical checks before it reaches you. Although delayed from our initial plans, Patch 7 will arrive on Mac and consoles in October, and we will keep you posted on our progress!

Sadly, this means console players won’t be able to load cross-saves from Patch 7 on PC—and cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Mac won’t be possible either. We are still diligently working on bringing crossplay to Baldur’s Gate 3, which, like Patch 7, needs extensive work and testing before its release.

We have several more patches lined up for Baldur’s Gate 3, including crossplay and photo mode, as well as other updates and fixes. However, every tale has its conclusion. As Swen mentioned during our final live panel for Baldur’s Gate 3 at PAX West in Seattle, it’s time for our team to retreat, hang up our armor, and focus on our next venture.

If you missed it, you can catch the panel here for an in-depth look at the making of Baldur’s Gate 3, along with answers to your burning questions.

Patch 7 is significant, and we’ve been busy addressing feedback and bugs thanks to the assistance of mod authors who’ve been testing and populating the modding hub, as well as players who participated in the Closed Beta. We appreciate everyone who took part. The playtest has concluded, and we will carry forward the insights gained!

Patch 7 is approximately 11.6GB on PC and needs 160GB of free space to install. If you’re short on space, we recommend uninstalling Baldur’s Gate 3 and re-downloading the updated version!

As always, some third-party mods may become incompatible after this update. Please uninstall your mods to confirm if issues persist. If issues continue after removing all mods, please reach out to our support team. Please be patient as mod authors make necessary adjustments.

Many third-party mods use Script Extender, and as part of our patch and toolkit testing, efforts have been made to support compatibility with Patch 7, so mods needing Script Extender should continue to work.

A big thank you to Norbyte, the creator of Script Extender, and all the mod authors who contributed their feedback! Your support has been invaluable.

And with that, let’s dive right in!

Does Corruption Beckon?

The Sword Coast is under your command, ready to be ruled like never before.

Whether you pursued absolute power, followed your father’s will, played as an Origin character, or caused general chaos, Patch 7 introduces 13 new cinematics with diverse endings for your most villainous playthroughs.

If you’re a streamer who is measured and mindful, and you use the ‘Show Cinematic Nudity’ setting, note that it’s now renamed to ‘Show Sexual and Violent Cinematics’ and updated to reflect its purpose. This setting toggles explicit content alongside select violent scenes that may be distressing. We might have leaned too much into corruption, as the new evil ending cinematics are included in this setting—they’re just that evil.

This setting does not affect your adventure, choices, or access to romance options; however, it does block scenes featuring nudity and significant violence.

Well, she got her dragon. But at what price?

Whether you’re starting anew or loading an old save to relive your battles with the Netherbrain, these new cinematics will reflect the choices you’d made.

It’s a Fling, Not a Commitment

We distinctly mentioned in Community Update #28 that if you are playing as the Dark Urge, a certain bard will join your camp as a controllable character temporarily if there’s a vacant slot.

It appears some missed that detail.

There are no new companions. Only death awaits.

The day the music died.

New Honour Mode Legendary Actions

To add to the horror, we’ve enhanced Honour Mode combat with new features like Malus Thorm’s new Legendary Action called Grasping Appendage. It’s as unsettling as it sounds.

A Fresh Approach to Modding Baldur’s Gate 3

Note: The Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit will be live later today. Thank you for your patience!
We are introducing another way to mod your Baldur’s Gate 3 saves with Patch 7, which includes our in-game Mod Manager and modding Toolkit, downloadable for PC players on Steam!

This supported method to create and install mods should improve compatibility and accessibility, allowing your mods to work consistently across platforms, including consoles in the near future.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit

Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit – Project Selection.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit is a separate, free application on the Steam store designed for creating mods specifically for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Scripting Changes using Osiris.

Baldur’s Gate 3 now officially supports some scripted mods using Osiris, our in-house scripting language. This allows mod authors to reload their scripts, handle build errors, and conduct basic debugging.

Publish a mod directly from the Toolkit!

Whether you prefer supported or third-party mods and mod managers, you have a choice. If you want to try our Toolkit and create a mod using our tools, visit: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2934770/Baldurs_Gate_3_Editor/

Steps to enable:

  • Go to your Steam Library
  • Right-click on Baldur’s Gate 3
