NVIDIA Upends the Industry: DLSS 4 Outperforms Native Rendering Even at 1440p

NVIDIA has plenty of critics, but one thing is indisputable — the company has been effective at pushing DLSS forward. A new test from the MxBenchmark channel highlights just how far upscaling technology has progressed.

DLSS used to perform best at 4K, while 1440p was often a challenge for the algorithms. With the release of DLSS 4, however, 1440p now appears significantly sharper. The video demonstrates how the improved upscaling not only boosts frame rates but also addresses shortcomings of TAA.

In DLSS 4 Quality mode the image is more stable than native resolution with TAA. At the 5:20 mark, it’s especially evident how in Silent Hill 2 Remake the new technology effectively “obliterates” conventional rendering.

Even the Performance preset produces commendable results, and in 4K the quality sometimes exceeds what DLSS 3 Quality delivered. NVIDIA also hasn’t limited the new DLSS version to the RTX 50 series — owners of older RTX cards will be able to use it as well.
