We are excited to share the details of the latest update for No Man’s Sky. The development team has been hard at work addressing player feedback from the Worlds Part 1 expansion. This update, version 5.05, introduces several key bug fixes and performance improvements across various platforms, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
Key Fixes and Improvements
- Liquidator Minotaur Upgrades: Resolved an issue where the Liquidator Minotaur limbs couldn’t be installed after completing the Liquidators expedition on an existing save. Additionally, players can now customize the colors of their Liquidator Minotaurs.
- Freighter and Ship Enhancements: Freighter warping has been improved for a smoother transition. We’ve also fixed a problem where certain ship parts (Longshore S-Wing and C-Wing) couldn’t be extracted when dismantling Haulers.
- Environmental and Visual Updates: Collision detection on floating islands has been enhanced, and visual clarity has been improved during storm transitions and on water planets. Volumetric clouds and high-definition water have been ported to Mac, and water rendering has been optimized for better performance.
- Audio and UI Adjustments: Swimming audio has been refined, and a bug where swimming sounds would persist has been fixed. We’ve also addressed a visual issue with reflections, ensuring they appear as intended.
- Performance Optimizations: Numerous optimizations have been made to reduce VRAM usage, enhance cloud rendering, and improve overall game performance, particularly in VR mode.
- Crash Fixes: Several crashes related to navigation, the physics manager, and creature interactions have been fixed, ensuring a more stable gameplay experience.
