Nikita Buyanov reveals how the PvE release for Escape from Tarkov was moved up by a year and a half — they wanted to make players happy

At first, there were no plans to create a PvE version of Tarkov.

Escape from Tarkov is a PvPvE title, but the community requested a dedicated PvE mode. The mode was added to the extraction shooter well before launch, which required a tremendous amount of effort.

Battlestate Games’ head, Nikita Buyanov, explained:

Fun fact: the PvE mode was originally slated for after launch, but we worked around the clock to speed up its release and ended up shipping it roughly a year and a half earlier than planned. Future PvE updates were also intended for post-launch — they remain on the roadmap.

The creators of Escape from Tarkov initially did not plan for a standalone PvE mode, but their position shifted — the mode will continue to be expanded and refined:

Tarkov was never conceived as a PvE-only game. We changed course to make more players happy. Our primary focus remains on PvPvE experiences, but PvE will also be improved going forward. Peace, love, faith, and common sense to you all!

The full release of Escape from Tarkov is scheduled for November 15.
