The project is being spearheaded by Neon Giant, the acclaimed studio behind the visceral cyberpunk title The Ascent.
In a recent feature for EDGE magazine (Issue #421, April 2026), Arcade Berg—Neon Giant co-founder and Creative Director of No Law—revealed that the game’s primary design philosophy is rooted in the immersive sim genre.
Berg expressed confidence that the experience will captivate not only genre veterans but also enthusiasts of open-world shooters, cyberpunk aesthetics, and narrative-driven games—particularly those who resonated with the atmosphere of The Ascent.
A cornerstone of the title is its uncompromising systemic world. Players possess the agency to eliminate any character they encounter, without exception. However, such actions carry significant weight; should a character vital to the plot perish, the game will issue a warning and offer a reload option. Players who choose to persist must navigate the unfolding chaos and live with the repercussions.
“We are engineering a credible environment governed by a persistent internal logic,” Berg notes. For instance, if the bounty on a player’s head reaches a certain threshold, they become a universal target, facing immediate hostility from the populace. While minor infractions can be resolved by paying fines to lower heat, the world’s overall reaction is dictated by interlocking systems rather than predetermined scripts.
While the systemic gameplay offers immense freedom, the developers clarified that the narrative itself is not a sprawling web of infinite endings. The core experience is a tightly structured noir tale with a definitive beginning, middle, and end. The variation lies in the journey: how the story is told and the unique circumstances the player creates through their choices.
