Insomniac Responds to Marvel’s Wolverine Criticism
Game director Mike Daly has addressed the online criticism surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine following the recent release of new gameplay footage, noting that Insomniac Games is accustomed to such reactions.
In an interview, Daly explained that the studio has operated under the weight of intense fan expectations for years. He called this a “good problem” to have, as it demonstrates how deeply invested players are in Insomniac’s projects.
The director pointed out that a similar pattern occurred with every installment in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. Despite critical acclaim and millions of copies sold, players consistently criticized character designs, mission structures, and specific gameplay elements.

Daly emphasized that even a great game cannot please everyone. While developing Marvel’s Wolverine, the team chose not to cater to every internet opinion. Instead, their primary goal was to capture Logan’s character, leading the studio to create a more linear, narrative-focused, and violent game rather than another open-world experience like Spider-Man.
