Netflix has released the first teaser for the second season of Blue Eye Samurai and confirmed that the animated series has been renewed for a third and final season. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in January 2027, followed by the final chapter of Mizu’s story in 2028.

The plot picks up directly after the events of the debut season. Mizu travels to London to track down the remaining two men, one of whom may be her father. In Europe, she encounters new allies and adversaries while confronting a culture she previously viewed as hostile.

Series creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green noted that Season 2 will explore how the journey to Europe transforms Mizu.

“It will be interesting to see how Europeans react to her. What will Mizu think of Western culture when she is suddenly inside it? Will they truly all turn out to be the monsters she imagines them to be?”

Parallel storylines will continue in Japan. Akemi and Taigen must navigate court life at Edo Castle under the rule of the new shogun, while Ringo attempts to carve out his own path following the aftermath of Season 1. Voice cast members Maya Erskine, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, and Masi Oka will reprise their roles.

Netflix describes Season 3 as the epic conclusion to Mizu’s journey. Additional plot details for the final season have not yet been shared.

Blue Eye Samurai was created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, with animation produced by French studio Blue Spirit. The series premiered in 2023 and earned four Emmy Awards, six Annie Awards, and a Peabody Award nomination.
