FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods Shown to Media, Differs from Expectations
Journalists and content creators have shared their first hands-on impressions of FromSoftware’s upcoming game, The Duskbloods, ahead of its scheduled closed playtest.
Early coverage confirms that the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive departs from traditional cooperative soulslike design, functioning instead as a PvPvE experience. Players explore the map, collect items, and complete objectives to accumulate points. The participant with the highest score at the end wins the match.
Matches run across four rounds, incentivizing players to interact, forge temporary alliances, and tackle objectives together. However, only the player who finishes an objective first secures the reward.
The preview build included a single location and six of the game’s ten planned classes. The full release will allow class customization, with each character archetype offering distinct playstyles, equipment sets, and active and passive abilities.
Despite the structural shift, The Duskbloods retains core FromSoftware hallmarks, including a grim aesthetic, challenging combat encounters, progression mechanics centered on strengthening a weak character through victories, and the ability to summon and upgrade spirits.
