Monster Hunter Wilds 1st Anniversary Message | Official Update
During a special 1st Anniversary video message, Tsujimoto stated that the team is deep in development on a “large-scale expansion” comparable in scope to Iceborne and Sunbreak. Although the message lacked gameplay footage or new monster reveals, he noted that further details will be unveiled this summer, likely positioning the title for a major showcase at Summer Game Fest or a June PlayStation event.
While the news was anticipated, the modest nature of the confirmation was unexpected, especially compared to the explosive trailers that heralded Sunbreak. Given the technical hurdles Wilds faced at launch, development on the expansion may have pivoted slightly as Capcom prioritized performance fixes. However, with the most recent PC patch significantly stabilizing the experience, the developers are finally in a position to look toward the future.
