Microsoft to Remove Discount for Game Pass Subscribers on Call of Duty In‑Game Currency

Supporters of the company are attributing the change to the new cashback scheme, but many remain unconvinced about how the two are related.

Without prior notice or explanation, Microsoft removed the 10% discount on CoD Points—the in-game currency for Call of Duty—that was available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Players also lost the discount on the BlackCell premium battle pass.

Observers suspect this was a technical glitch rather than a deliberate move ahead of the Black Ops 7 launch, which is scheduled for next month.

Some Xbox supporters argue that even if this wasn’t an error, Call of Duty fans have little ground to complain, since Microsoft introduced a cashback program tied to purchases on the Xbox Store for certain subscription tiers. Still, many question how a cashback available in only a handful of countries is preferable to straightforward discounts.
