This exceptional feedback propelled Mewgenics to be the first title in 2026 to cross into the elite 90s bracket. It is currently maintaining a steady 90 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic.

Having logged 105 hours since receiving a review copy, I can attest that the acclaim is entirely earned. It stands as a masterful successor to my most-played game of all time, The Binding of Isaac. Mewgenics is already a formidable contender for my 2026 Game of the Year, boasting a soundtrack that will be incredibly difficult to top.

Interestingly, this new roguelike already features over a third of the achievement count found in Isaac, despite the latter having a decade-long head start and three major expansions.
