Despite her superstar status, Mariah Carey confessed she has no desire to venture into space—even though Katy Perry did, a revelation Carey only just heard.

During a BBC Radio 2 interview aired August 7, Carey was stunned to learn Perry had participated in Blue Origin’s first all-female flight beyond Earth’s atmosphere back in April. “She actually went to space? Where did she orbit?” Carey exclaimed when the host mentioned the mission.

“Into orbit and back?” she continued, marveling in her signature understated style. “She’s floating in the… And that’s real? Incredible. Okay, Katy—I’m not mad; that’s pretty impressive.”

When asked if she’d ever embark on such a cosmic journey herself, Carey quipped with trademark wit, “I think I’ve done enough.”

Perry’s springtime voyage climbed roughly 62 miles above the planet aboard Jeff Bezos’s New Shepard rocket, crossing the Kármán line before descending after about ten minutes.

Critics denounced the trip as extravagance, but Perry defended it as a milestone for women. Upon touchdown, she told reporters, “It’s about carving out space for future generations of women—claiming our right to explore and belong. Ultimately, it benefits everyone on Earth.”

Meanwhile, Carey remains firmly earthbound, gearing up for her next musical chapter. Her new album, Here for It All, arrives this September, following the singles “Type Dangerous” and “Sugar Sweet” featuring Kehlani and Shenseea.
