Netflix has officially greenlit a second season of “Ikusagami: The Last Samurai,” the high-octane action drama drawing widespread comparisons to a fusion of “Shogun” and “Squid Game.”
Set against the backdrop of late 19th-century Japan, the narrative follows 292 warriors thrust into a lethal competition, battling for a staggering 100 billion yen prize.
The series features Junichi Okada, who serves as both the lead actor and a primary creative force behind the adaptation of Shogo Imamura’s novel “Hikuidori.” Since its streaming debut in November, the project has garnered universal acclaim, maintaining a rare 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
