Mads Mikkelsen Could Star in Martin Scorsese’s New Film

The InSneider has reported that Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) is being considered for a role in the upcoming film What Happens at Night, directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese.

While Apple Studios has refrained from commenting on the casting news, the high-profile project is already set to be headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

The narrative follows a married couple who journey to a desolate, snow-shrouded European town to finalize an adoption. Their stay at a decaying, near-deserted hotel—peopled by a cast of eccentric and surreal characters—profoundly alters the course of their lives and relationship.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Peter Cameron, the film features a screenplay adapted by Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal). Principal photography is scheduled to commence in early 2026.

Fans can currently see Mikkelsen on the big screen in the fantasy-horror feature Dust Bunny, which recently premiered in international markets.
