GTA: San Andreas Speedrunners Discover Major 31-Step Skip After 21 Years

GTA San Andreas Speedrun Breakthrough

Until recently, similar AJS exploits had been found in other versions, including the Definitive Edition. These discoveries were so impactful that they forced the speedrunning community to split leaderboards into Any% and Any% No AJS categories. Now, this powerful technique has finally been adapted for the original 2004 PC port.

The newly revealed walkthrough is nothing short of chaotic. To pull it off, runners must win exactly $10,000 via horse racing bets, duplicate the primary script, and intentionally drown a motorcycle in a lake eight consecutive times. This sequence eventually causes the game world to collapse into a “black void,” paving the way for the shortcut to the ending.

This latest AJS discovery has already allowed speedrunner creezyful to slash the Any% world record down to a staggering 53 minutes and 46 seconds. As the community continues to refine these illogical steps, that time is expected to drop even lower in the coming weeks.

In related news, a former Xbox executive recently noted that GTA: San Andreas and its controversial “Hot Coffee” incident represented a pivotal moment for the industry, proving that video games had matured to the same cultural level as cinema and music.
