Nesmith isn’t suggesting that the next entry should become a carbon copy of an Elder Scrolls title. Instead, he highlights a massive demand for a content-dense, open-world sci-fi epic that captures that specific “sandbox” flavor. He believes fans are hungry for an expansive universe where the gameplay depth matches the narrative ambition.

“Longtime players would absolutely love that level of freedom,” he explained, while jokingly acknowledging his bias as a Bethesda alum. “Of course, given my history, I’m likely to say that about most projects.”

Development on the next Mass Effect appears to be gaining momentum, with BioWare recently announcing the hiring of a new project production director to oversee the title’s progress.

Furthermore, the original voice actors for Commander Shepard have expressed their enthusiasm for the project, stating they would be ready to return to their roles in an instant if called upon.
