Since the last time we discussed the release date of GTA 6, a plethora of theories, speculations, and fantasies have accumulated, which are not worth highlighting individually. Therefore, we have gathered the latest in one place.
The most bizarre and unrealistic assumption, surprisingly, did not come from fans but from the CEO of Corsair during the latest financial report. According to a journalist, the head of the company, which is involved in developing and selling computer components, believes that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on consoles this fall and on PC in early 2026. This statement seems absurd as the gap between different versions of the new part has always increased, and now a break of a year and a half seems more plausible. Why say this? In this case, it’s unlikely he has any credible information. However, there is a direct interest in selling more hardware.
Kotaku caused quite a stir, writing an article with a loud headline: «We kind of know when GTA 6 will be released». Based on the fact that Borderlands 4 is set to release in September, the authors suggest October 28 as a possible release date for the “sixth.” Or thereabouts. In fact, they don’t know anything specific and are merely speculating, resorting to clickbait and ruling out a likely delay to the following year. On the game’s page on their site, the suggested date is not even mentioned. Instead, December 30 is noted — a placeholder to avoid leaving the spot empty (why not write the official “Fall 2025” there?). Of course, no one will release a game two days before New Year.
Recently, there has been active discussion in the community about the possibility of the second trailer being shown at the end of March or early April. If this doesn’t happen, we will likely need to prepare for delays. Allegedly, it’s time to start the marketing campaign if fall is still a priority for developers. Fans really enjoyed the idea of releasing something new on April 1. April Fool’s Day is an ideal choice for something serious. Players won’t immediately believe their luck. Another argument in favor of the first day of the next month is its appearance on a mysterious t-shirt that already predicted the exact date of the first trailer’s release. But will the “rock stars” use the same hinting method for future premieres? Trolling, perhaps, but repeating? Unlikely. Either way, it will be a fun Tuesday.
A week before that, another intriguing event will happen. The legendary magazine Game Informer, which was closed in summer 2024, is currently teasing its comeback on March 25. Some see this as perfect timing to publish, for example, the first screenshots of GTA 6 in the pages of this gaming media, which has often released exclusive materials on Grand Theft Auto and other R* games in the past. The question is whether the developers themselves need third-party platforms to advertise their product. Previously, yes. Now, probably not.

While we wait for some concrete information, so does the entire gaming industry, whose representatives are hesitant to announce release dates for their video games, not knowing when the upcoming superhit will be released. One such company is EA, cautious with the new part of Battlefield. No matter how big the title is, it won’t compete with Grand Theft Auto VI.
Analyst Ben Porter from Newzoo suggests that this could lead to some studios going out of business if they choose the wrong time to release their title.
