Fortnite’s 5-Player South Park Teams Could Become a Permanent Addition

Fortnite design director Ted Timmins confirmed that the mode was inspired by the fact that “every friend group has their own ‘Butters’ who usually gets left out.”

While Quints is currently designated as a limited-time offering, its future remains open. When a fan suggested the mode become a permanent fixture, Timmins teased, “Make it successful, and then we’ll talk.”

This addition complicates the matchmaking ecosystem, as the player base will now be partitioned across five different team sizes, with Zero Build further doubling those queues. While there are concerns about thin player distribution across so many playlists, the ability to jump in with a larger group is a highly requested feature that many fans will likely embrace.

As Fortnite Chapter 7 seeks to honor its battle royale heritage, the development team continues to push boundaries with ambitious crossovers and playlist expansions.
