The Division 3 will be a “monster” — details from the series producer

During the New Game+ Showcase, Julian Gerighty, the executive producer of the franchise, unveiled fresh insights regarding the highly anticipated development of The Division 3.

Although the project’s existence has been public knowledge since 2023, the development team has maintained a strict veil of secrecy until now. This time, Gerighty was explicit, characterizing the upcoming installment as a “total monster.” This description points toward an expansive world and a volume of content designed to dwarf both the original game and its successor.

Massive Entertainment’s lofty ambitions are further evidenced by the complete dedication of its leadership. In 2024, Gerighty transitioned away from his work on Star Wars Outlaws to pivot his entire focus toward The Division 3. While technical specifications have yet to be disclosed, the “monster” branding clearly signals the studio’s intent to establish a new gold standard for the looter-shooter genre.

Before the third chapter arrives, the franchise universe will be augmented by two intermediate titles. The first is The Division 2: Survivors, a project inspired by the original game’s iconic Survival mode, featuring a lethal blizzard that fundamentally alters survival mechanics. The second is the mobile-focused The Division Resurgence, which is currently slated for release by March 31, 2026. New footage from both projects was spotlighted during the showcase.
