Sam Asghari Urges Privacy for Britney Spears Following DUI Arrest

Sam Asghari has publicly addressed the recent arrest of his ex-wife, Britney Spears, calling for the media to exercise restraint and respect her personal space. During a recent segment on Fox News, the actor and fitness expert shared his perspective on the pop star’s latest legal complication.

While appearing on the network this past Friday to discuss geopolitical issues, Asghari was asked about the news regarding Spears’ arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The pair, who were married for two years before finalizing their divorce in late 2024, have remained a frequent topic of public interest.

“Everyone is prone to making mistakes, and I understand that,” Asghari remarked calmly during the interview with host Ainsley Earhardt. “However, I believe everyone is entitled to privacy. My hope is that the press has gained some perspective from the past and will provide her with the space she needs right now.”

Official documentation from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the “Womanizer” singer was taken into custody on Wednesday at approximately 9:30 p.m. PT. Following her booking, she was released early Thursday morning. A court appearance regarding the matter has been scheduled for May 4.

A spokesperson for Spears characterized the situation as a regrettable and “inexcusable” event. In a statement, the representative noted that Spears is committed to following legal protocols and suggested that this moment could serve as a necessary turning point for the singer to implement positive changes in her life.

This incident adds to a complex legal history for Spears, who famously lived under a restrictive 13-year conservatorship following personal struggles in the mid-2000s. Despite these recent hurdles, her professional legacy remains lucrative; reports recently surfaced that the Grammy winner finalized a deal worth an estimated $200 million to sell her extensive music catalog to Primary Wave.

While the interview briefly touched on his former spouse, Asghari dedicated the majority of his airtime to discussing the plight of the Iranian people. The Tehran-born actor expressed his deep connection to his heritage and his support for those seeking freedom within the country, emphasizing a distinction between the Iranian citizens and their governing regime.

The history between Spears and Asghari dates back to 2016 when they met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video. Their relationship saw several milestones, including a high-profile wedding in June 2022. However, the union ended in separation in 2023, with their divorce becoming official on December 2, 2024—a date that coincided with Spears’ 43rd birthday.
