Sports Interactive has unveiled significant changes to Football Manager 26’s tactical system in a newly released trailer.
The latest installment will give managers far greater flexibility by introducing separate configurations for in-possession and out-of-possession play. These enhancements will help users replicate the real-life systems employed by top coaches with higher fidelity.
The redesigned tactical screens let you assign player roles with precision across both phases of play, removing the constraints present in earlier editions. For example, shifting a striker from the flank into an attacking midfield position no longer disrupts the team’s defensive automation. A new suite of out-of-possession roles has been added, and attacking roles have been reworked.
FM26 will also include a Visualizer — an analytics feature that displays build-up statistics such as pass completion percentages, tempo, and the effectiveness of transitions from defence to attack. This tool will enable more accurate assessments of a team’s style and support tactical decision-making over the course of a season.
