First Trailer for the GTA San Andreas Nextgen Edition Remaster in the GTA V Engine: Russian Modders Update the Rockstar Classic

The legal departments at Take-Two and Rockstar Games are facing a fresh challenge.

The Revolution Team has recently pulled back the curtain on their latest ambitious endeavor. After successfully recreating GTA: Vice City within the RAGE engine used for GTA IV, these modders are now returning players to Los Santos, utilizing Grand Theft Auto V as their technical foundation.

The official reveal of GTA San Andreas Nextgen Edition, powered by the GTA V engine, was accompanied by the release of its first teaser trailer:

“The journey with VCNE has reached its natural conclusion for us. Version 1.2 is fully playable, as evidenced by hundreds of walkthroughs on YouTube. The modification has been released to the public and continues to thrive on its own, receiving community-driven fixes and updates—something we are truly delighted to see. As for our team, we aren’t standing still; we have transitioned to a new, even more massive and ambitious project. We intend to be more cautious about sharing specific details this time, but we are pushing forward and preparing something genuinely special for you. Fasten your seatbelts; we are taking off!”

The team’s previous venture, GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition, faced legal pushback from the publisher. Despite these hurdles, the mod was eventually released, receiving official patches and further refinements from a dedicated community of enthusiasts.

Production on GTA San Andreas Nextgen Edition is currently “in progress,” and no official release window has been announced.
