Bethesda has deployed its sprawling open-world epic on a handheld system, and initial technical comparisons are already making waves across the community.
The developers have revitalized the title for a new era, porting the legendary experience to fresh hardware. Fallout 4 has officially made its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, allowing players to navigate the ruins of post-apocalyptic Boston in a fully portable format.
This Anniversary Edition for Switch 2 serves as the definitive collection, bundling the core game with all six major expansions: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Contraptions Workshop, Far Harbor, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka-World. It also boasts a wealth of Creation Club content, offering over 150 items ranging from specialized gear and narrative quests to new allies and expanded construction modules for settlements.
Players on the Switch 2 can choose between three tailored graphical profiles: a 1440p high-fidelity mode at 30 FPS, a 1080p mode at 40 FPS (optimized for 120Hz displays), and a 60 FPS performance mode targeting dynamic 1080p with visuals comparable to the PS4 version. While the 30 and 40 FPS options hold their own against the PS4—and occasionally edge ahead in detail—they don’t quite reach the resolution or stability found on the PS5. The 60 FPS mode provides a seamless experience, though it mirrors previous-generation fidelity. While Sony’s flagship still leads in overall visual crispness, this hybrid port represents an impressive technical feat for the platform.
