Ethel Cain Apologizes to Fans for Cutting Paris Show Short

Ethel Cain Apologizes After Abruptly Leaving Paris Concert

Ethel Cain issued a heartfelt apology after abruptly ending her Oct. 17 concert in Paris. The performance at L’Olympia was halted when Cain left the stage in tears during the fourth song; venue staff later told the audience the interruption was due to “technical issues” and other unforeseen circumstances.

Cain addressed fans on Instagram Stories, writing that she has been “having a bit of a time lately” and that those struggles sometimes surface during performances. She apologized to concertgoers for not finishing the set and thanked those who made the effort to attend, saying she was looking forward to the second scheduled show the following night, Oct. 19.

“Hi Paris. My apologies for the show last night. I’ve been having a bit of a time lately and sometimes it unpredictably bleeds over onto the stage. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to finish the set … To everyone who attended last night, I apologize again for the disappointment and the planning that I’m sure went into you attending. It means a lot to me that you came and I’m sorry I let you down.”

The Paris date was part of Cain’s European tour supporting her sophomore album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, released in August 2025. Cain framed that record as the final chapter in the Ethel Cain narrative — an extended conceptual exploration of trauma, Americana and Southern Gothic themes. Her set in Paris mixed material from the new album with selections from her 2022 debut, Preacher’s Daughter.

This incident comes after a turbulent summer for the singer. In July, older controversial social posts resurfaced online, prompting Cain to apologize publicly and call some of the resurfacing activity an attempt to “destroy” her. The following month, fellow artist Lana Del Rey posted a brief song snippet that appeared to reference Cain by name; the clip included lyrics such as “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post” and other pointed lines.

Cain later commented on the situation in another Instagram Story, noting, “update: lana del rey has blocked ethel cain on instagram.”

Second Paris show at L’Olympia was scheduled for Oct. 19, 2025.
