The developers have outlined an ambitious roadmap for 2026.
Recently, the creators of Escape from Tarkov hosted their TarkovTV Live 2025 holiday broadcast, where they shared a comprehensive vision for the game’s evolution through 2026.
Battlestate Games lead Nikita Buyanov teased a variety of upcoming features, which were promptly cataloged by the “Tarkov Metamovement” community. Key highlights from the stream include:
During the first quarter of next year, players can expect a suite of technical optimizations alongside a dedicated onboarding experience. This will include an interactive firing range designed to explain complex mechanics and a narrative-driven “Icebreaker” event, which is set to function as a story-based dungeon akin to The Lab.
By the second quarter of 2026, the studio plans to introduce seasonal PvP characters. These seasons will redefine the gameplay loop through various modifiers—such as a “famine wipe” where food and hydration resources are drastically reduced.
Players will have the opportunity to customize their experience with personal perks and debuffs. Progression will follow a structure similar to a battle pass, and once the season concludes, participants can transfer their hard-earned rewards to their primary character profile.
Additionally, the 2026 content slate includes the “Scav Life” expansion—an add-on featuring a dedicated Scav profile with its own progression tree, a unique secure container, and enhanced cosmetic customization—among many other updates.
Looking toward future combat tech, Battlestate Games is also prototyping pilotable drones equipped with grenade-dropping capabilities, which they intend to integrate into the Escape from Tarkov ecosystem.
